Growth in the 3rd quarter
was good for decorative business across the country. Quarter witnessed improved
demand conditions during Diwali season.
Industrial business was
impacted due to poor demand from projects business and slowdown in OEM segment.
International business has
registered strong performance with in the Middle East and Asia region, which is
reflected in the consolidated numbers.
ON A CONSOLIDATED BASIS
For the 3 months ended Dec 31,
2012
Ø Income from operations
grew by 19% to Rs 3052.9 crores as compared to Rs 2567.0 crores in the previous
year.
Ø PBDIT increased by 26% to
Rs 510.4 crores from Rs 405.1 crores.
Ø PAT after Minority
Interest increased by 30.5% to Rs 335.2 crores from Rs 256.9 crores last year.
For the 9 months ended Dec 31,
2012
Ø Income from operations
grew by 16.2% to Rs 8237.3 crores as compared to Rs 7089.4 crores in the
previous year.
Ø PBDIT increased by 18.4%
to Rs 1338.6 crores from Rs 1130.8 crores.
Ø PAT after Minority
Interest increased by 18.3% to Rs 862.8 crores from Rs 729.3 crores last year.

For the 3 months ended Dec 31,
2012
Ø Income from operations
grew by 20.0% to Rs 2536.97 crores as compared to Rs 2114.18 crores in the
previous year.
Ø PBDIT has increased by
22.9% to Rs. 451.23 crores from Rs 367.12 crores
Ø Net profit was up by 24.6%
to Rs. 312.03 crores from Rs. 250.48 crores last year.
For the 9 months ended Dec 31,
2012
Ø Income from operations
grew by 14.4% to Rs 6739.19 crores as compared to Rs 5888.36crores in the previous year.
Ø PBDIT has increased by
17.6 % to Rs 1193.25 crores from Rs 1014.39 crores
Ø Net profit was up by 13.5%
to Rs. 810.44 crores from Rs. 713.80 crores last year.
Softening in prices of
Titanium Dioxide and some other chemicals was observed during Q3FY13.
For Decorative products,
Material price index for Q3 was at 102.56 with 2011-12 as base 100 and for YTD
Dec 2012, index was at 105.56. Material price index for Q2-FY13 was 107.71 and
Q1-FY13 was 106.67.
The construction work at the
Khandala plant near Pune in Maharashtra is on schedule.The first phase of 3,00,000 KL per annum is
expected to be on stream in Q4-FY13.The
plant can be further scaled up to 4,00,000 KL per annum.
OTHER DETAILS :
Paid
up Equity share capital of the company is Rs.95.92 cr – with face Value of
Rs.10 each. The consolidated EPS stands
at Rs.34.95 for Q3 ; compared to Rs.24.93 for Q2and Rs.26.78 for Q3 FY 12.
The
9m. consolidated EPS stands at Rs.89.95 compared to Rs.76.03 in same period
last year and Rs.103.08 for the whole of FY 12.
Asian Paints Ltd today announced their financial results for the quarter and Nine months ended December 31, 2011.
“We witnessed good demand for Decorative Coatings business across the country.However, inflation and falling rupee has affected material prices, thus impacting margins”said P M Murty, Managing Director & CEO, Asian Paints Limited.
“Industrial business, including Auto continued to face challenging conditions.Political events and macro economic uncertainty in some countries continue to affect international performance though South Asia has done well.”He added.

Q3 & Nine Months ended Dec 2011
For the quarter ended Dec 31, 2011,
on consolidation of accounts of the subsidiaries and joint venture of
Asian Paints –
Net Sales of the Group has increased by 22% to ` 2560.5 crores from ` 2099.6 crores as compared to the previous corresponding quarter.
PBDIT for the quarter was up by 15.3% to ` 419.9 crores as compared to ` 364.3 crores in the previous year.
Net Profit after Minority Interest increased by 16.6% to ` 256.9 crores as compared to ` 220.3 crores in the previous year.
For the Nine Months period -
Net Sales of the group increased by 23.2% to ` 7071.7 crores from ` 5740.6 crores.
PBDIT was up by 10.0% to ` 1194.7 crores as compared to ` 1086.2 crores.
Net Profit after Minority Interest increased by 11% to ` 729.3 as compared to` 657.2 crores in the previous year.
Asian Paints Standalone Results: Q3 & Nine Months ended Dec 2011
For the quarter ended Dec 31, 2011-
Net Sales on a standalone basis increased by 20.3% to` 2109.5 crores from ` 1754.2 crores.
PBDIT for the quarter increased by 20.5% to ` 388.3 crores as compared to ` 322.3 crores in the previous year.
Net Profit increased by 21.2% to ` 250.5 crores as compared to ` 206.6 crores in the previous year.
For the Nine Months period -
Net Sales on a standalone basis increased by 24.6% to` 5875.2 crores from` 4714.9 crores.
PBDIT for this period was up by 16.2% to ` 1108.1 crores as compared to ` 953.8 crores.
Net Profit increased by 18.2% to ` 713.8 crores as compared to ` 603.7 crores in the previous year.
The results for Q1 of FY2011 of ASIAN PAINTS present excellent performance by the company for this quarter – in comparison to Q4 FY 2010 (Previous quarter) and q1 FY2010 (corresponding quarter).
Net Sales at Rs.1491.14 cr is higher by 15% compared to previous Qtr (Rs.1296.09Cr) and by 28% compared to corresponding Qtr (Rs. 1164.82 Cr).
Total Expenditurehas risen less than proportionately to Rs.1213.03 cr - by 11.9% compared to previous Qtr (Rs.1083.73 Cr) - and by 29.6% compared to corresponding Qtr (Rs.935.64 Cr).
Profit from Operations at rs.278.11 cr – is higher by 31% compared to previous quarter (Rs.212.36 Cr) - and higher by 21.4% compared to Rs.229.18 Cr).
Net Profit at Rs.200.96 cr is higher by 13.5% compared to previous Qtr (Rs.177.04 Cr) – and by 22.2% compared to corresponding Qtr (Rs.164.45 cr).
Basic EPS is Rs. 20.95 – compared to Rs.18.46 (+13.5%) in previous qtr and compared to Rs.17.14 (+22.2%) in corresponding Qtr.
PE RATIO: The current Market price is rs.2440/- which on the likely EPS for FY2011 (20.95 x 4) of about 84 + will yield a forward PE ratio of 29.
On 31.05.2011, Asian Paints has Signed an MOU with Maharashtra Govt. to set up a Mega Projectfor manufacture of Paints & Intermediates at Kesurdi in Maharashtra.
The Company's new paint plant at Rohtak in the State of Haryana has commenced commercial production, on 12.04.2010. The plant has an initial capacity of 150,000 KL per annum and can be scaled to 4,00,000 KL per annum in future expansions.
At the current rate of consistent growth, Asian Paints can improve its profitability further in coming quarters.
The consolidated figures also reveal a healthy picture. Consolidated net sales is Rs.1830.22 cr, on which the consolidated EPS is Rs.23.16.
