Q1 FY2011 RESULTS
PROCTER & GAMBLE has declared its June 2010 quarter ending and Year ending results (stand alone) which are analyzed below :
Net Sales for Y/E June 2010 is Rs.902.87 Cr and for June Q/e is Rs.197.85 Cr. The June Qtr sales are less by 3.5% when compared to previous qtr (0310 ending) – but more by 9.2% compared to corresponding qtr ( Jun 09ending)- and it is also proportionately less by 12.3% compared to whole year sales.
Profit from Operations is Rs.204.99 for the year and Rs.9.67 Cr for the Qtr – The quarterly OPT is less by 75.4% compared to previous qtr - lass by 84.2% compared to corresponding Qtr – and proportionately less by 81.1% from Total year OPT.
This is mainly due to increase in depreciation by 124.7%, cost of purchase of traded goods by 72.9% and increase in other expenditure by 25.9% - all of which resulted in total expenditure increasing by 13.5% compared to reduction in sales by 3.5%. Anew excise duty levy on sanitary napkins and high marketing costs is also said to have dragged down the quarterly net profit. PGHH, which sells Whisper sanitary napkins and Vicks cough drops, said the introduction of the excise duty in Budget 2010-11 and promotional costs for new launches had led to a 53% increase in expenses during the quarter.
Net Profit is Rs.179.76 Cr for the year and Rs.10.10 Cr for the quarter. The Qtrly NPT is less by 76.9% from previous Qtr – less by 78.9% from corresponding Qtr and less proportionately by 77.5% from the total year NPT. The net profit for the year (Rs.79.76 cr) is slightly higher than the Rs.178.85 crore it made in the year-ago period. Sales went up 17% compared to last year (to Rs.902.87 cr).
Basic EPS for the year is Rs.55.38 and the EPS for the Qtr is Rs.3.11 – compared to Rs.13.5 in Q3, Rs.23 in Q2 and Rs.15.86 in Q1. The company has recommended a dividend of Rs.22.50 per equity share for the year ended June 30, 2010.
Considering the steep decline in the last quarter performance, we need to watch the performance in the next quarter.
