In August,2010, it is so unlike the scenario of 2008.
The AUTO SECTOR in India has started performing excellently, in sync with the general Economic trend in India.
First, Maruti Suzuki, the numero Uno, produced one of its best performances, or rather, it’s THE VERY BEST PERFORMANCE so far.
TATA MOTORS matched Maruti, in all ways, producing its VERY BEST PEROFRMANCE – especially at the CONSOLIDATED LEVEL. The turn around in last quarter was very, very good. But, the improving performance in August gives superb confidence in the 4 – wheeler major. There are distinct signs that TATA MOTORS can become India’s absolutely truly AUTO MULTINATIONAL giant, a la Ford of USA, in the years to come. It is earning, most importantly, the RESPECT, of its European clients and Governments for the way it handles its production, clients and workers.
After that, it is BAJAJ AUTO’s turn to record an all time high monthly sales of 3,29,364 units in August, 2010 which represents a 55% jump – compared to August,2009 in which it sold 2,13,072 units.
It also sold 2,98,176 units of Motorcycles, a big Jump of 59% compared to 1,82,441 units in the previous year. Pulsar and Discovery Bikes sold the highest.
Three wheeler sales for Augutst,2010 stands at 40,188 units, compared to 30,021 units sold in August,2009, a growth of 34% Exports also increased by 31% to 98,578 units against 75,164 units in August 2009.
The only thing that jars a little is HONDA’s stake sale in Hero Honda. But then, this could be the BEST OPPORTUNITY for Hero Honda to grow out of the shadow of Honda, in a dogged, determined manner. It has enough resources and capabilities to outshine Honda.
All in all – it looks as if – the Indian Auto sector is set to perform brilliantly in 2010-11.
