MARUTI SUZUKI
SALES IN Q3
Maruti Suzuki’s Sales performance during Q3 was quite good as can be seen from its figures below.
The rate of growth was 17% in December,2010, 28.2% in November, 2010 and 39.2% in October,2010 over the corresponding months of 2009.
In December, the growth rate was perhaps subdued a little because of the shutting down of the plant from 27.12.2010 to 01.1.2011 for maintenance. Therefore, it is to be seen from Janury,2011, if the company will maintain the ‘over 1 lakh’ Sales per month, it earlier clocked in October and November,2010.
The company has two manufacturing facilities located at Gurgaon and Manesar, south of New Delhi. Both the facilities have a combined capability to produce around 1.2 million (1,200,000) passenger car units annually.
Another plant with 2,50,000 capacity is expected to become ready by Jan’2012 and yet another with 2,50,000 by around Janury2013. So, by how much can Maruti scale up its production and sales beyond the 1 lakh capacity mark before the capacity expansion takes place, is to be watched.
However, even if it maintains its over 1 lakh cars per month, it is a huge, creditable achievement for this market leader.
