Jan’12 vs Dec’11 Compared

TATA MOTORS  has performed excellently in the third quarter ending Dec,2011 – spurred by higher sales at its European Unit. Its latest launches have done well – and sales in China and Russia have picked up very well.

Its Indian operations were not that good in Q3 – as all 4 wheeler manufacturers suffered in India in Q3.

How is TATA MOTORS faring in Q4 ?

Here are the figures from its web site for January,2012 and Dec,2011.

Production in January’12 was 96,910 Units, with cumulative figures upto January being 750,008 Units.

Production in December’11 was 80,074   units, with cumulative figure up to December’11 being 653,098 units.

Thus, on a sequential basis, there is significant improvement in production in January’12 compared to December’11.

Now the Sales Figures :

Sales in January’12 was 87,467 Units, with cumulative figures up to January being 714,239  Units.

Sales in December’11 was 82,279 units, with cumulative figure up to December’11 being 626,772 units.

Thus, on a sequential basis, there is significant improvement in production and Sales both, in January’12 compared to December’11.

The Range Rover Evoque was named the North American Truck of the year – and the orders for it are flowing in good numbers in first quarter as well.

The current Price Earning Ratio is as low as 8.33 as calculated in previous article – and this leaves good scope for price appreciation for  medium / long term investors.

About future, TATA MOTORS SAYS –

Going forward focus is on:

- continuing to monitor economic and sales trends closely to balance sales and production

- building on momentum of XF 12 model year, 2.2 diesel and Range Rover Evoque launch

- launching other refreshed Jaguar and Land Rover products

- planned investments in future new products and technologies to meet customer aspirations and regulatory environmental  Standards

- generating strong operating cash flows to support these future investments
